Overlooking the picturesque hills just south of Gundaroo, this scenic location was the site for a pergola overhaul as well as extensive landscaping.
Using beautiful Cypress sourced from Central Western Queensland, the team replaced the old, worn pergola with an entirely new structure much larger and wider than the original. The Cypress rafters were kept as natural as possible with only an oil finish and concealed fixings to emphasize the natural feeling and bring out the clean rich colours, while the black posts, heads and gutters echo the windows and trims of the existing house. A simple galvanised zinc was used for the roof sheeting to complete the effect.
The courtyard area saw lightweight powdercoated aluminium frames set over the area to create a more complete, streamlined look when viewing from the outside and allow vines to grow up and around them.
Alongside the fresh landscaping work including new stone walls with elegant, flowing curves, the concluded project is fantastic to see in such a vast and wonderful location and sits confidently, accentuating the existing building but not detracting from or changing its original charms.
